transfer photograph & gelatine print on aluminium panels.
24x35 cm each.
In Summer 2022, I took photographs and collected objects when hiking in the Italian Alps, in the regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino - respectively up to the Rifugio de Gaspari (1767 m) above Pesariis, Udine, and in Borgo Valsugana, Trento.
After analysing the objects and textures in my studio, I created 4 monoprints which developed around the biological images of human bodies and organs (‘skin’, ‘lung’ & ‘scar’), scanned the images, and then played with superimposing them on the photographs taken in the Alps. I then recreated the composition via superimposed photographic transfers on 3 primed aluminium panels, each 24x35 cm. The resulting works are ‘skin’ (2022), and ‘diptych: lungs & scars’ (2022). The panels give the images a translucent quality, alluding to memories and impressions which are primed into our subconscious, influencing our perception of the world around us.
